PARCHMENT 54, GALESBURG-AUGUSTA 47: At Galesburg, Parchment took a 39-27 lead into the fourth quarter and had to hold off a furious comeback by the hosts to come away with a KVA win.

"We fought back the whole way and cut it to one midway through the fourth quarter," said G-A coach Mike Woodard, whose team dropped to 1-19 overall (0-12 KVA). "That's been the story of our season."

Kyle Pfost had 12 points, Ben Holdridge 11 and Austin Patton 10 for coach Larry Bailey's Parchment (9-11, 6-6) quintet. Travis Boersma tossed in 12, Cory Schug 11 and Tyler Piper 10 for the Rams.

Tom's Observations: Parchment played an overall solid defensive game. The man to man was especially tough in the first half and down the stretch of the 4th quarter. The 3-2 rotations mid way through the 2nd half led to several easy GA buckets. The bench made solid contributions on both ends of the floor. Richie did an excellent job of penetrating and dishing. "Hey Richie, one thing though, take your shot". Roach went 3 for 3 from 3-point land scoring 11 points in the first half. There were a lot of turnovers but there were also a lot of assists. In an attempt to keep the GA crowd in the game Wolfy dropped an airbomb from the freethrow line with about a minute to play but he fortunately redeemed himself 20 seconds laters when he nailed both ends of a 1 and 1 with his squad clinging to a 1 point lead and the GA crowd raising the roof with cheers of "AIRBALL, AIRBALL". On the next possession Wolfy was falling to the floor after being tripped but managed to toss a sweet fast break outlet pass to Matt R. who converted for a 5 point lead. The General and MC also stepped up to hit a pair of freethrows in the final 30 seconds. Also down the stretch T.J. had a HUGE swat of a GA 10 footer that helped swing the tide. The big man in the middle K.P. had a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards, and the General wasn't too far behind tallying 10 points and 9 boards. Now it's on to the districts. Parchment's first round opponent is the Otsego Bulldogs. Game time 8 PM, Tuesday, 3/9 at South Haven High School.
