Rice gives Parchment a big lift
Saturday, January 28, 2006

Parchment and Paw Paw were each missing a key player, but it was the Panthers who responded on their home court to post a 59-42 Kalamazoo Valley Association win. ``Aaron Rice, who is 5-foot-6, and Nate Bonney combined for 10 rebounds and I thought that made the difference in the game,'' Parchment coach Larry Bailey said. ``We have worked really hard and some of the kids, especially Bonney, really stepped up.''

Parchment was without leading scorer Alex Wolfe and Paw Paw was missing starting forward Matt Buskirk. Matt Chappell scored 19 points, including three 3-pointers, for Parchment (9-3, 4-2 KVA). Denver Baker added 13. Derek Jones pace Paw Paw (4-7, 2-2) with 13 points.

Coach T comments: Congrats Al on the crown. That got the evening off on the right foot and then your P-town teammates finished the evening off in ROYAL style with a nice nice victory over 2Paws. D. Jones played his rear off but didn't get much help. Fuzz was a beast on the boards as was Bon. MC stepped up late in the game and made some big plays just when it looked like Paw Paw was going to scratch their way back into it. I know this is going to sound like a broken record but I thought our O was on again off again all night long. Fortunately our D was rock solid for nearly 32 minutes and like I've been saying all along, as long as you have D you have a chance. Great effort from everyone! I like it, I love it, I want some more of it!! The next 3 games are all against KVA foes and we are definitely still in the mix for the league title so get pumped up because this is probably the biggest week of the season. Let's play some D. Let's WIN!!
