Game 10 versus the Three Rivers

Coach T's Two Cents: This was an ugly game. The officiating was ugly but so was the P-town ability to hold a lead. After falling behind 1-0 on a penalty kick off a very questionable call P-town came storming back and dominated play for about 60 minutes to take a 2-1 lead. At that point the game was our to win or lose. If EVERYONE had marked up and played D then I think we could have taken this one home 2-1, but instead we continued to push up and spread out the field and in the end we gave up 2 cheap goals and ended up with our second tie of the season and an overall record of 5-3-2. C'mon fellas, when you get the lead you are in the driver's seat. You gotta play smart and play to hold the lead. That's the great thing about soccer. When you have the lead you can change your strategy and make it nearly impossible for your opponent to score. It's a lot like hockey. Once you get the lead you stack the D in the middle of the field, you mark up like you are possessed, and you continue to flip the ball into the corners and out of bounds and you watch the clock tick away in your favor. We may have walked away with a tie on the scoreboard but it really was a loss of a sure victory. Hopefully a lesson was learned this game that will lead to some victories down the road. One last comment: Trav you were AWESOME in goal! You made some GREAT stops and DANG can you kick the ball long! Way to go!!
